Eye tracking in physics education research: A systematic literature review

Eye tracking is becoming increasingly popular in physics education research (PER). As technology has advanced considerably recent years and become more user friendly, it anticipated that eye will play an significant role assessing student learning at the process level future studies. The main objective of this systematic review to summarize current status quo regarding PER reviewing (a) dissemination, (b) methodological implementation, (c) insights provided by PER. We identified 33 journal articles, published between March 2005 April 2021, used for original empirical area education. results reveal although been many different areas physics, a clear focus on mechanics evident, particularly measuring visual attention assessment scenarios like problem solving. While high rigor selection analysis stimuli was apparent, only few studies have complete documentation technological implementation (e.g., movement restrictions, accuracy, calibration information) theoretical embedding interpreting eye-tracking data.
